Graphics settings
Some graphics settings can be customized. We think the defaults will work well for most scenarios, but you may wish to adjust them. These are mostly rendering effects which help visualize the structure of molecules. To adjust them, open the settings using the gear button near the top of the UI. Then adjust the dropdowns, checks, and numerical fields as required. These are saved in the preferences file, so will be retained between sessions.
Below, we describe these settings
Multi sample anti-aliasing (MSAA)
Can be set to disabled, or 4x. Renders extra pixels, then downsamples them to the final image. This reduces the appearance of jagged edges, and in general improves appearance. Has a performance cost. Deafults to 4x.
Ambient occlusion
Darkens areas on the inside of molecules, or areas that are otherwise blocked from the lighting sources. Greatly improves the ability to visualize depth and the overall shape of molecules. Has a large performance cost.
